There has been some confusion and mixed reports about whether or not the 2021 Arnold Classic is a qualifier for the 2021 Mr. Olympia. Now we have official confirmation for what to expect from this contest.

Typically the Arnold Classic is the second biggest show of the year, just behind the Olympia, and serves as a qualifier for this massive event. However with the date of the Arnold being shaken up, it was rescheduled for two weeks before the Olympia, which is past the cutoff window for qualifying for this year’s Mr. O.

Earlier this week reports began to circulate that an agreement had been made to allow the Arnold to be a qualifier for this year’s Olympia, but that was not entirely true. A post to the Arnold Sports Festival Instagram page revealed that only the winner of the Men’s Open Division will qualify for the 2021 Olympia, while the other divisional winners only qualify for the 2022 Olympia.

“There have been many questions about the Olympia qualifications for those IFBB Professional League athlete’s competing in the 2021 Arnold Sports Festival and we want to clarify this,” the statement reads.

“IFBB Professional League President Jim Manion and Vice-President Tyler Manion worked directly with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Arnold Sports Festival staff along with Olympia owner Jake Wood and Chief Olympia Office Dan Solomon to put together the following.

The main point is that the Overall Winner of the 2021 IFBB Arnold Classic Men’s Bodybuilding will qualify for the 2021 IFBB Mr. Olympia held 2 weeks later! But he is the Only competitor that gets that privilege.

This is a bit of an odd circumstance, given the conflicting schedule of the 2021 Arnold Classic and the 2021 Mr. Olympia. However it is good to know that at least one person will be able to qualify through this show, especially given the roster of names competing.
