John Jewett is gearing up for his first show of the 2026 bodybuilding season. In an August 11 Instagram post, the bodybuilding veteran broke down his 2,555-calorie diet fueling his preparations for the 2026 Texas Pro.

“5 days out from Texas Pro.🏆”

Jewett has been an IFBB Pro bodybuilder for nearly 10 years, and in that time, he’s made huge strides. Intense training and sustainable dieting have helped him get shredded for contests each year. In 2025, the Men’s Open pro claimed a pair of fourth-place finishes at the Tampa and Texas Pro

In addition to navigating his career, Jewett has established himself as an elite bodybuilding coach. He is currently preparing former two-time 212 Olympia champion Shaun Clarida for the 2026 Mr. Olympia. If Jewett wants to make it to Vegas, he’ll look to nail down a victory in the Lone Star State this weekend.

Meal 1

  • 120 grams of chicken breast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 125 grams of white rice
  • 40 grams of sourdough bread
  • 30 grams of red bell pepper
  • 40 grams of cooked spinach
  • 55 grams of orange

Jewett explained that he’s eating five meals a day and alternating his lean meats and fruit to stay consistent:

“The setup: 5 meals a day, keeping a rotation of lean meats, whey, and fruit to stay on track without losing my mind.”

Meal 2

  • 70 grams of whey protein (Cinnamon Bun flavor)
  • 2 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 50 grams of oatmeal
  • 30 grams of canned pumpkin

Despite competing in a few days, Jewett still has a sweet tooth to satisfy.

Meal 3

  • 170 grams of chicken breast
  • 65 grams of cooked spinach
  • 50 grams of blueberries
  • 100 grams of peaches

He revealed that this has been the least amount of food he’s had all prep. Each week, Jewett is dropping around four pounds.

“Today’s the final day of pulling down — the lowest my diet has been all prep. Right now I’m dropping about 4 lbs of bodyweight per week, so every meal counts.”

Meal 4

  • 170 grams of chicken breast
  • 40 grams of sourdough bread
  • 100 grams of peaches
  • 50 grams of blueberries
  • 100 grams of cooked spinach

For meal four, he balanced his carbs and protein with chicken, sourdough bread, and different fruits.

Meal 5

  • 70 grams of protein powder (Cinnamon Bun flavor)
  • 50 grams of oatmeal
  • 30 grams of canned pumpkin
  • 20 grams of egg whites
  • 360 grams of cashew milk (unsweetened)

He had his second pumpkin dessert of the day. These enjoyable dishes have made it easier for him to practice dieting.

“And yeah… I’m a huge fan of my cakes, as you can see. Proof that flexible dieting can still be enjoyable — even this deep into contest prep,” John Jewett said

Daily Macros

  • Calories: 2,555
  • Protein: 300 grams
  • Carbohydrates: 225 grams
  • Fats: 55 grams
  • Fiber: 30 grams

Jewett has a real shot at improving from his fourth-place showing in Texas last year. However, he will face some strong contenders, including Regan Grimes, Patrick Moore, and Tim Budesheim. Pressure is building, as athletes have until August 30 to secure their Olympia qualifications.

Beyond protein, fats, and carbs, Jewett has also ensured his fiber intake is on point before stepping onstage. The 2026 Texas Pro takes place from August 14-15 in Irving, Texas.
