Men’s Open star Nick Walker isn’t easing up on the gas despite winning his last competition. In a recent YouTube video shared on May 27, 2025, he discussed his new push, pull, legs training split and tackled an intense workout for bigger legs.
It’s been a game-changing season for Walker. Despite being counted out by fans, he gave Derek Lunsford all he could handle at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro. While Lunsford ultimately got his hand raised, the results were deemed controversial following the sudden-death tie-breaking round in the finals. Dorian Yates and Rich Gaspari both thought Walker deserved the win.
A week later, Walker jumped into the New York Pro. He dominated the show and secured his ticket to the Mr. Olympia. With time to make improvements, ‘The Mutant’ is already back in the gym, laying out how he plans to earn the Sandow trophy in October.

Seated Leg Curl
During seated leg curls, Walker revealed that he’s been sticking with a push, pull, legs split fresh off his win in New York.
“We’re doing a PPL-type split right now, we’re going to hit it hard, but nothing too much. Starting with seated leg curls, this is honestly one of my favorite seated leg curls. It’s very good, very smooth.”
Leg Extension Machine
He pre-exhausted his quads with the leg extension machine after warming up his hamstrings.
“Now that we destroyed the hammies, I’m going to go to the leg extension and pre-exhaust. Also, still warm up the knees as well,” he explained.
Hack Squat
He increased the weight on hack squats gradually, focusing on slow and controlled repetitions.
“We’re going to do the Atlantis one today. Going to put the seat a little upward and we’re going to load the bottom,” he shared.
Lying Leg Curl
Walker moved on with the lying leg curl before hitting sets on the adduction machine.
Hip Adduction Machine
He favors this New Tech hip adduction machine because it allows him to hit his upper glutes by leaning further back.
“That exercise we’ll probably utilize every workout [for upper glutes].”
Standing Calf Raise
His lone exercise for calves was the standing calf raise.
Ab Crunch Machine
Walker finished off the session with hard sets on the ab crunch machine to refine his midsection.
“This is basically how training is going to be. Right now, no set training as far as whatever. We’re just doing a nice PPL split. I’ll get on the phone with Kyle probably tomorrow, we’ll discuss how he wants me to move forward with it. We’re still going to train five days a week, not six. I think six days is too much.”
Although Walker’s performance reinvigorated confidence among his fan base, some in the sport still doubt his potential. Bob Cicherillo recently suggested that, in light of Walker’s Pittsburgh performance, the best he can do at the Mr. Olympia is seventh place.
Walker has made a career out of being counted out. Fans look forward to seeing him compete at the Mr. Olympia for the first time since 2022, when the event returns from October 9-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
