Fans of bodybuilding have always wondered how the most prolific Mr. Olympia winners would stack up against each other, including Wesley Vissers. In a recent Instagram post shared on September 17, 2024, Vissers discussed who would win the Mr. Olympia if Ronnie Coleman, Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, and Dorian Yates clashed on stage.
As we approach the 60th anniversary of the prestigious Mr. Olympia event, it is easy to reminisce about some of the greatest athletes to have emerged from the bodybuilding stage. Among them was six-time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates, who brought a combination of impeccable conditioning and muscle mass, allowing him to dominate against competitors such as Shawn Ray and Flex Wheeler.
After Yates finally stepped away from the competitive stage, ‘The King’ would take his rightful place on the throne, and Ronnie Coleman wouldn’t relent the crown easily. Coleman successfully defended his title a total of eight times, denying his competitors a chance at glory despite their greatest efforts. Finally, his biggest rival Jay Cutler, who came in second to Coleman four times, would officially end ‘The King’s’ reign in 2006.
Jay Cutler enjoyed his time in the limelight, defending once again in 2007. Unfortunately, Cutler would slip up and lose to Dexter Jackson in 2008. However, Cutler hunkered down and brought arguably his best physique to the 2009 Mr. Olympia, where his iconic quad stomp earned him back his title, branding him the ‘Comeback Kid.’ Cutler would net a total of four Mr. Olympia titles before eventually losing to Phil Heath in 2011.

Phil Heath wasn’t any less spectacular than his predecessors as he went on to tie Arnold Schwarzenegger’s record of seven Mr. Olympia wins, coming close to Ronnie Coleman’s and Lee Haney’s eight. While Heath would eventually lose in 2018 to the late Shawn Rhoden, he has yet to fully step away from the sport, hinting at a potential return in the future if the money is right.
Wesley Vissers Explains Why Ronnie Coleman Would Defeat Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, and Dorian Yates if All Were At Their Best
Yates, Coleman, Cutler, and Heath all brought their own specialties to the stage which led to them finding success. However, what would happen if you took these legends and pitted them against one another? When Classic Physique competitor Wesley Vissers was asked that exact question, he provided fans with not only his rankings but also insight into how he sees the epic contest unfolding.
- Winner — Ronnie Coleman
- Second Place — Phil Heath
- Third Place — Jay Cutler
- Fourth Place — Dorian Yates
“Ronnie Coleman first, Phil Heath second, and then I think Jay Cutler third, and Dorian fourth.
Because Jay Cutler, his prime, maybe either 2001 or 2009, his mass I think is just more dominant than Dorian’s and it’s very difficult to see how conditioned Dorian really was compared to the guys now because of the difference in quality. But I don’t think the difference would be big enough to offset the mass difference” Vissers said.
This isn’t the first time that Wesley Vissers has given his thoughts regarding the Men’s Open. Previously, Vissers didn’t hold back on sharing how he thinks five-time Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead would fair in the Open against some of the division’s fiercest competitors.
“If he went to the Open class this year with his current physique I don’t think he would place that well, to be honest. He’s still not full enough, not enough mass, but with 10-15 pounds extra, I don’t think he would surpass someone like Samson still.”
Wesley Vissers will be competing this October after coming off back-to-back wins at the 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio and UK events. However, not only will he be facing five-time champion Chris Bumstead, but he will also face Ramon Queiroz, who came in second at the 2023 Mr. Olympia and 2022 Mr. Olympia. It is safe to say Vissers will have his work cut out for him next month.
