As one of the godfathers of bodybuilding, Charles Glass has a unique ability to coach and takes a cognitive approach when it’s time to lift weights in the practice room. Recently, Charles Glass shared a video on social media demonstrating his top-4 intensifying muscle-building techniques.

Charles Glass implements a unique system when he trains bodybuilders. The storied professional is known for his incredible work ethic and it reflects when it’s time to lift in the gym. Glass takes muscle isolation training to a different level.

  • Forced Reps
  • SuperSet
  • 21’s Method

With a firm grasp on muscle development throughout the years, the techniques Glass teaches are designed to work specific muscle fibers only. In fact, depending on the athlete, Glass modulates the workout with the intention of focusing on a specific group of muscles. Speaking on Instagram, Charles Glass emphasized that his top-4 intensifying muscle-building techniques have helped bodybuilders avoid injury too.

“You have, well, I mean a lot of us do it. I can’t say it separate me from anybody. Glass shared on Instagram. I just do it because that’s what I like to do. I like to target a person’s muscles and hit the fibers I need to hit and make them work harder. So if you had a moment, and you go down for the movement and stop at the bottom, now there’s no momentum so now you gotta dig deep. You gotta get other extra fibers to what… push, that, do it again, same thing. So momentum carries you this way, but if you stop it halfway, now you gotta start over and you gotta dig deeper.”

“It’s me, thinking about how I’m going to target the muscle. How do you hit a muscle, how do you hit a muscle? You figure how you’re going to work that muscle and you work it to the fullest. You don’t want to just play around with it and miss it. The thing, what I mean by ‘miss it’, a lot of people look at it and say ‘ okay look, you’re legs,’ I’m going to put a little more sweep on that quad’, so I gotta figure out how to position your body so that I can hit your quad different. So it’s more of the outside. So I may twist you in the machine and have you put one leg behind, so I can get more pressure on just that quad.”

Charles Glass has an engineering background and the meticulousness of his former discipline is ever-present in his gym work.  As a Mr. Olympia qualifier and an avid figure in the bodybuilding community, Glass understands the importance of not only hitting certain muscle groups but actually working all of the fibers in that muscle.

“When you start throwing weight around, what happens? You end up getting an injury. You want to have control. Control of the muscle, contract the muscle, squeeze it. Glass explains. You know, but if you just throwing heavy weights, it doesn’t mean a lot to me. I like to have control of the weight, contract the muscles, working all of the fibers.”
