FitnessVolt’s military PT section scores the fitness tests of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard, and explains the Space Force test. This page sets out where the numbers come from, how we check them, how the calculators score you and how to tell us when something is out of date. FitnessVolt is an independent site, with no affiliation to the Department of War or to any branch.

Where the numbers come from

Every score table, pass rule and date on these pages comes from the branch’s own published document: the Army’s AFT scoring tables, the Navy’s Guide-5A, Marine Corps Order 6100.13A, the Air Force’s PFRA scoring charts and the Coast Guard’s COMDTINST 6100.1. Each document is linked under Sources below, and each calculator and standards page lists the documents it uses.

We read the tables from the official files, never from another calculator. Where a branch keeps its tables out of public view, as the Space Force does with the HPA charts in myFitness, we explain the test and its pass rule without scoring it.

How we check the numbers

For each test we score, a script compares every cell of our data with the official document and reports any difference. On 2 October 2026 those checks found no mismatches:

  • Army AFT13,486 cells against the AFT Scoring Tables effective 1 June 2025.
  • Navy PRT1,584 cells against Guide-5A Table 4-1.
  • Marine Corps PFT and CFT12,848 printed cells against MCO 6100.13A.
  • Air Force PFRA3,322 cells against the scoring charts of 17 March 2026.
  • Coast Guard PFT1,584 cells against COMDTINST 6100.1 Appendices A and B.

The first line of each page, “Last verified”, gives the date its data was last checked against those documents. We change that date only after a new check. The “Last updated” date in the page header is when the page itself last changed, so the two can differ.

How the calculators score you

A calculator looks up each event in the table for your sex and age group and gives you the points of the best row your result reaches. It never interpolates between rows. Pass or fail follows the branch’s own rule, which each calculator page quotes with its source. Where the public documents do not print everything a rule needs, the calculator shows your points without a pass or fail. For the Navy, your overall category comes from the average of your event points, as Guide-5A sets out.

We leave out anything the documents do not print: no percentiles, no rankings between branches, no score conversions from one test to another, and no grade names a branch does not use.

Who writes these pages

The FitnessVolt Editorial Team writes and maintains the military PT section. If you find a number, rule or date that no longer matches the official document, use the report link under Sources and name the document if you can. We check each report against the document before we change anything.
