Marine Corps PFT and CFT standards by sex and age group
Choose a sex and an age group to see that group's table. One choice sets both tables. MCO 6100.13A also prints tables for tests at altitude, which are not shown here. To score your own results, use the Marine Corps PFT calculator or the Marine Corps CFT calculator.
Marine Corps PFT for men aged 21 to 25
Points for each result. Do at least the reps or plank time shown; for the run or the row, finish in the time shown or faster. A blank cell means that score is not available for that event. Push-ups top out at 70 points; you need pull-ups to earn the full 100. For women, the pull-up table starts at 60 points.

How the Marine Corps PFT and CFT are scored
Each test has three events, scored on tables set by sex and by eight age groups. An event earns up to 100 points, so each test is out of 300. Your total sets your class.
- 1st ClassPass235 to 300
- 2nd ClassPass200 to 234
- 3rd ClassPass150 to 199
- FailureBelow the minimum in any event, or under 150 in totalNone
You pass either test with at least 150 in total and at least the minimum in every event, which is worth 40 points, or 60 for women's pull-ups. The classes are the same on both tests.
Combat arms Marines
Since 1 January 2026, Marines in a combat arms PMOS take the PFT on the male tables for their age and must reach 210 points. A combat arms Marine who passes the PFT with fewer than 210 points keeps the pass. MARADMIN 613/25 puts that Marine on remedial physical training, with possible PMOS reclassification or promotion restriction, and no adverse or punitive action until further guidance. The rule covers the PFT only.
How each Marine Corps PFT and CFT event is tested
You take each test in one session of no more than two hours. Your commanding officer sets the order of the PFT events; the CFT always runs movement to contact, ammunition lift, then maneuver under fire, with at least five minutes between events, in combat utility uniform and boots.
PFT events
- Pull-ups or push-upsYou choose one. Pull-ups are dead hang: chin above the bar, arms fully extended at the bottom, with no kipping or kicking. Push-ups are as many as you can do in two minutes.
- Forearm plankHold a proper plank for as long as you can, up to the time that earns 100 points. The plank replaced the abdominal crunch, which ended on 31 December 2022.
- 3-mile runRun exactly 3 miles on a measured, reasonably level out-and-back or loop course. You cannot run it on a treadmill.
- 5,000-meter rowMarines 46 and older may row 5,000 meters on a Concept2 rower instead of running. Younger Marines may row only for an injury or after childbirth, with a health care provider’s recommendation and the commanding officer’s approval.
CFT events
- Movement to contactA timed 880-yard run on a measured, reasonably level course. You cannot run it on a treadmill.
- Ammunition liftLift a 30-pound ammunition can from shoulder height to overhead, locking your elbows, as many times as you can in two minutes.
- Maneuver under fireA timed 300-yard shuttle with crawls, a buddy drag and carry, an ammunition resupply, a dummy grenade throw and agility running.
Marine Corps body composition standard
The Marine Corps checks body composition separately from the PFT and CFT, with the waist-to-height ratio: your waist divided by your height.
- Waist-to-height ratioA WHtR of 0.52 or less meets the standard, for men and women alike. Above it, a body fat evaluation follows.
- How it is measuredWaist at the navel, parallel to the deck. Waist (lower of two measurements) and height both rounded down to the nearest half inch.
- At or over the lineBody fat by the multi-site tape test or bioelectrical impedance; body fat standards unchanged (MCO 6110.3A). Marines with 285 or more on both the PFT and CFT may carry up to 26% (men) or 36% (women); 250 or more on both adds 1%.
Marine Corps PFT and CFT standards questions
When do Marines take the PFT and the CFT?
Active duty Marines, and Reserve Marines in the SMCR or IMA, take the PFT between 1 January and 30 June and the CFT between 1 July and 31 December, once each a year.
Should I do pull-ups or push-ups?
You choose. Push-ups top out at 70 points, so only pull-ups can earn the full 100 on the upper-body event.
Is the plank the only core event?
Yes. The abdominal crunch ended on 31 December 2022. One plank table covers every age and both sexes: 1:10 earns 40 points and 3:45 earns 100.
Does the 210-point combat arms standard apply to the CFT?
No. MARADMIN 613/25 sets the 210-point standard for the PFT only.
What happens if I fail the PFT or CFT?
A failure makes your fitness report adverse, affects your proficiency marks and puts you in promotion restriction until you pass a PFT or CFT. Your command also records a counseling entry.
