The 2019 Mr. Olympia is just over four weeks away, and we are finally starting to get a complete list of who will compete. This includes the names of those who will take part in the Men’s Open Division and all other divisions.
This year’s Olympia is going to be an intense event. Even though ticket sales are less than ideal, the list of athletes taking part in this competition is deep. There will be a new Mr. Olympia Champion crowned this year, and now we have a list of who that might be.
There are many ways for bodybuilders to qualify for the Mr. Olympia Men’s Open Bodybuilding, although this does not necessarily mean those who qualify will compete. However, any athlete that finished in the top 5 of last year’s event is automatically qualified. Additionally, if an athlete wins a show they are also qualified.
Moreover, there are three additional slots open for competitors to qualify. The top 5 people in each show leading up to the Olympia earn points on a scoring system. Subsequently, the men who scored the highest amount of points get a spot. Also, any previous Mr. Olympia Champion is granted a lifetime qualification.

It is important to note that Shawn Rhoden is technically qualified for the 2019 Mr. Olympia, as he is last year’s champion. However, his eligibility was revoked by the AMI, following allegations of sexual assault. Also, Hadi Choopan is qualified but is having visa issues that could prevent his ability to compete.
Additionally, Cedric McMillan was granted a special invitation to the event. On the other hand, Phil Heath has won a previous Olympia, granting him automatic access. Despite this, he has yet to officially announce his intent to compete.
The 2019 Mr. Olympia takes place on September 12-15. Stay tuned to FitnessVolt for all the updates as the event approaches.
