Austin Perkins is the best-ranked male powerlifter across all divisions in drug-tested federations, which makes him one of the strongest pound-for-pound athletes in the world. However, that does not stop him from pursuing further improvements, as seen at the 2025 Avancus Houston Prime on October 11th. Perkins competed as a 74-kilogram athlete, where he managed to unofficially exceed the Raw Total IPF World Record with a score of 858 kilograms (1,891.6 pounds).
Austin Perkins Full 2025 Avancus Houston Prime Performance Overview
Austin Perkins conducted an extensive preparation for the 2025 Avancus Houston Prime and came in with a bodyweight of 73.6 kilograms (162.3 pounds). This placed him just below the limit for the 74-kilogram weight class and allowed him to fully utilize his mass. Knowing exactly what he is capable of, Austin finished the competition with all nine successful lifts.
Having achieved an 858-kilogram (1,891.6-pound) total, Austin Perkins received 126.318 GL points, which came as a result of a calculation that factored in his bodyweight and the weights he lifted. The same equation was used for other athletes as well and allowed the organizers to rank the competitors regardless of their weight class. Austin finished with the highest score and claimed the gold medal ahead of Joe Borenstein and Meghan Scanlon
