Jesus Olivares is an elite powerlifter who is widely celebrated as one of the strongest superheavyweights in the history of the sport. He showcased his immense strength once again at the 2026 Avancus Houston, which took place on October 4th in Texas. Wrapping up an incredible day on the platform, Olivares delivered a spectacular performance capped off by a massive 485-kilogram (1,069.2-pound) squat, which, alongside his total, marked unofficial +120KG IPF World Records.
As a raw athlete, Jesus Olivares competed in classic powerlifting gear, wearing only a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps without any supportive suits. He kicked off his squat by effortlessly completing his opener of 430 kilograms (948 pounds). He then made quick work of his second attempt at 460 kilograms (1,014.1 pounds) with incredible speed and control.
For his final attempt, Jesus Olivares stepped onto the platform with complete focus as 485 kilograms (1,069.2 pounds) was loaded onto the bar. He steadily descended with the barbell on his back, but as he initiated the drive upward, he hit a serious sticking point. Although it seemed that the lift might stall, Jesus managed to push through and reach full lockout, thus unofficially breaking the IPF World Record.
