It’s almost time for Martin ‘The Martian’ Fitzwater to step back onstage. He walked his fans through a low full day of eating on April 28, 2025, in prep for the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro.
Fitzwater has been one of the more active Men’s Open stars in the IFBB Pro League. He debuted on the Mr. Olympia stage last year, taking fourth place in a breakout performance. He opted to skip a lengthy off-season in favor of competing at the 2024 Prague Pro for an early Olympia qualification.
His risk paid off. He battled Chris Bumstead in the Open division and came out on top. Fitzwater could have shut his season down, but wants to test himself against the stacked Pittsburgh Pro lineup, which features Derek Lunsford, Nick Walker, Michal Krizo, and Ugolnikov ‘Good Vito’ Vitalii.

Meal 1
- 2 Scoops ISO H1 Blueberry Donut
- 5 Rice Cakes
His first meal was simple: a quick protein and carb boost before he trained legs with Hunter Labrada.
“On poverty calories here, nothing fun, nothing exciting. I could make cream of rice, but I actually like the volume of the rice cakes. Eat this down. Get our pre-workout made, get our intra made, got a little drive over to Labrada and kill some hamstrings.”
Meal 2
- 90 grams of Fruity Pebbles
- 2 Scoops ISO H1 Blueberry Donut
Fitzwater shared that he’s taking in fewer carbs in the lead-up to Pittsburgh. This served as his quick post-workout meal after the gym before he could eat whole foods at home.
“Carbs are pretty low, especially for me, but will do this directly post-workout after the leg training with another isolate shake,” he shared. “I’ll use that [protein powder] as the milk for this as my post-workout meal. We’ll eat that at the gym.”
Meal 3
- Chicken Tenders (Made with cornflakes)
- Brussels Sprouts
- Diet Soda Wild Red
He revealed that this has been one of his lowest food days since peaking for the 2024 Mr. Olympia.
“Like I said, food is pretty low for me. The lowest that you guys have probably seen outside of peak week for the Olympia. We’re pushing to be my best.
I feel good right now. I still feel like I have enough energy to continue to dig into this, and we’re going to make sure we have no body fat left. A good way to do that is poverty calories.”
Meal 4
- 130 grams of Cooked Chicken
- Green Beans
- Rice Cakes
- 2 Scoops of ISO H1 Protein Powder
His final meal of the day was chicken with green beans and rice cakes. In the middle of the night, when he inevitably wakes up, he downs a protein shake made with two scoops of protein powder to meet his needs for the day.
“Not crazy, very simple, very easily digestible, and effective. Just getting better each day, each meal. I’m happy with the progress I’ve made. We’re definitely flattening out like we wanted to. Keep digging into this a little bit more and get as much detail as we can.”
Already, the Pittsburgh Pro is being hailed as the ‘show of the year.’ It’s basically a mini Olympia with some of the sport’s biggest names eager to see where they stack up against each other. The winner will have significant momentum heading into October’s Olympia showdown.
Fitzwater plans to bring an even more polished look than what he displayed on the Olympia stage. Anticipation for the show continues to build as it’s set to host the Open class for the first time from May 10-11.
