Open Bodybuilder Nick Walker aims to become the 20th athlete to earn the title of Mr. Olympia. In a recent YouTube video published on June 11, 2025, “The Mutant” plowed through an intense push day workout 18 weeks before stepping back onstage.
Walker has built his career on being counted out. After withdrawing from the last two Mr. Olympias, some had doubts about his potential in the Men’s Open. Despite that, Walker put on one of his best performances at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro. He pushed Derek Lunsford and nearly earned the victory. However, he was denied gold in the finals following a tie-breaking round.
Undeterred, Walker took his talents to the 2025 New York Pro and won handily. Now, with Olympia glory in his crosshairs, he’s attacking each training session with a new level of intensity.
Walker shared that the LCM Gym is just 15 minutes away from his house and likened the hardcore atmosphere to Metroflex Gym, home to Ronnie Coleman and Branch Warren.

“LCM Gym, which is very convenient because it’s like 15 minutes from my house. This works out extremely well for me. As you can see, it’s very old school, very Metroflex garage door-open type of style. I’ll probably be here for the majority of my Olympia prep,” he shared.

After Lunsford narrowly escaped Walker’s wrath in Pittsburgh, the former Mr. Olympia revealed he’s faced challenges. Most notably, from Nick Walker fans who thought Lunsford deserved to lose. Lunsford stressed that tearing others down doesn’t help the sport.
The bodybuilding community seems unsure as to where Walker will land at the upcoming Olympia contest. Rich Gaspari thought Walker should’ve gotten the nod in Pittsburgh, but when discussing the Olympia, suggested that he would fight for a spot in the top five.
Having placed as high as third at the major event, Walker has shown he can reach the podium. Time will tell where he places when the event returns from October 9-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
