With his blockbuster DC movie Black Adam set to take over theatres next month, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is sharing how he got his lower body in shape for the movie role. In a recent Instagram post, The Rock annihilated his quads with modified step-ups.

As one of the busiest actors in Hollywood, The Rock is celebrated for his balanced approach to work and fitness. He sports a ripped physique, which he took to the next level while preparing his body for a hulking superhero role in the latest DC project, Black Adam.

He trains at his private home gym Iron Paradise and hasn’t let up on his mission to bring an improved build to each and every movie project. The Rock has kept millions of followers updated on his various workout endeavors. As of late, he used Pit Shark squats as a high-volume finisher to sculpt bulletproof legs.

The celebrity favors slow and controlled reps anytime he’s working out. He prefers to lower the tempo on the negative portion of each exercise to increase time under tension. One of his mottos is to be “the hardest worker in the room,” and The Rock tries to use that mentality to his benefit while training. Whether he’s inundated with a busy schedule or it’s late at night, Johnson always values a good pump

Check Out How The Rock Uses Step-ups to Condition His Legs

In a recent Instagram post below, The Rock demonstrated one of the go-to workouts he used to prepare his physique for Black Adam.

“Memphis heat 🔥
5 rounds.
#BlackAdamTraining
#HardestWorkersInTheRoom” The Rock shared.

While he started with the weighted version to make the workout more difficult, once Johnson approached failure, he finished out his last set with just his bodyweight.

Step-ups are effective for developing lower body strength. This exercise specifically builds up core strength and stability over time. Many use this exercise as a means to build up strength for more demanding movements.

Despite his popularity, Johnson doesn’t miss an opportunity to pump iron. He recently met up with NFL’s Aaron Donald for a brutal workout at the LA Rams Gym.

At times, Johnson’s schedule can be overwhelming, so he uses working out as a medium for relieving stress and decompressing. One of his latest training sessions saw him tax his lower body with a series of exercises, which once again included Pit Shark squats.

The Rock doesn’t just go hard in the gym but in the kitchen too. In addition to his workouts, he routinely shares cheat meals. Johnson’s sweet tooth often guides him to foods like coconut banana pancakes, but he likes to make room for other guilty pleasures like In-N-Out Burgers
