Bodybuilder Brandon Curry is determined to bring an all-time best package to his next contest. On February 5, 2025, he walked fans through his simple and effective leg day workout four weeks from the 2025 Arnold Classic.
Brandon Curry has cemented himself as a dominant force in the Open class. In 2019, he laid claim to his lone Mr. Olympia title. He’s also won the prestigious Arnold Classic event twice. He faced obstacles before making his way to the 2024 Mr. Olympia. Most notably, he stopped working with his longtime coach Abdullah Alotaibi.
When it was time to square off against the best, Curry fell to ninth place. Determined to bounce back from the performance, he entered the 2025 Arnold Classic. Not only will a historic $500,000 be up for grabs, but Curry will have the opportunity to face off with favorites of the category, including reigning Olympia winner Samson Dauda and Andrew Jacked.

2-Way Leg Press
Curry practiced two methods on the leg press, starting with a lower foot positioning for a deeper range of motion. Then, he completed sets with his feet at the platform’s top for a shorter range of motion.
“I like to use two movements. When I do a set, I’ll start lower on the platform for the deepest range of motion and the stretch. I finish with my first amount of reps there. I don’t go to failure but I’ll move up before I go to failure there.
Then, I’ll start at the top of the platform and finish, giving me a shorter range of motion but working more on the top in the finishing range. The bottom I’m working more on the stretch. Then finishing with more tension at the top.”
Pendulum Squat / Leg Press Calf Raise (Superset)
He moved to pendulum squats next and supersetted with calf raises on the leg press machine.
“That angle is really really steep so this feels somewhat like a leg press right now. But as I go into the bottom of the movement, it kind of looks more like a squat.”
“As it’s light, I like to really take advantage of that range of motion [on leg press calf raises]. That extra pump at the top. I’ve seen Samson do it. His calves are great but I’m trying to make it as heavy as possible to where I can’t even get up to the top.”
Belt Squat Lunge
Curry performed belt squat lunges next, and took a page out of Lee Haney’s book: stimulate, don’t annihilate.
“Stimulate, I don’t think I annihilate. And on to the next one,” he shared. “These are quad-focused lunges.”
Seated Hamstring Curl / Standing Calf Raise (Superset)
He performed seated hamstring curls one leg at a time before finishing his last superset with standing calf raises.
“Here’s a single leg exercise because that stack isn’t quite hitting enough for me to use two legs, so I’m using one. I’m using this belt to hold the leg up on this inside here because I can’t put it down. Simple but effective.”
Standing Hamstring Curl Variation
He moved into standing hamstring curls before his final exercise.
“That’s it for that. I’m going to do some adductors as promised because I have a little time.”
Adductors
He prefers to utilize higher reps when using the adductor machine.
“I like to do a little bit higher reps on these. More stabilizing, plus once you go really heavy and you reach the end of the stack and there’s no point in that. Too early, I want to get some work done. Just my preference.”
Having prioritized leg training this season, fans expect Curry to present a vastly improved lower body when he hits the stage. He also understands what he’ll need to bring if he hopes to compete with Dauda.
“I know the areas of detail and separation that I need to bring against a guy like Samson. He’s very big in stature.
He’s a big overall body and he’s been improving in his look over the years, getting more lines, more separation but I think with my muscle maturity, if I can get shredded enough, I can have some separation that he doesn’t.”
Curry has the chance to shock the world against Samson Dauda and Derek Lunsford in less than four weeks. Don’t miss the 2025 Arnold Classic, set for February 27 to March 2 in Columbus, Ohio!
