It’s the middle of summer, but bodybuilding veteran Dennis Wolf is embracing the heat. In an Instagram post from July 23, 2026, he showed off his ripped physique at 47 during an outdoor workout in the woods.

The 2000s bodybuilding era was among the most competitive, and Wolf proved that in the Men’s Open division. Though he never laid claim to the prestigious Mr. Olympia title, Wolf enjoyed massive success in the IFBB Pro League, regularly challenging names like Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler

Wolf picked up the biggest win of his career at the 2014 Arnold Classic, where he defeated the late Shawn Rhoden and Cedric McMillan. The German native hasn’t competed since 2018 (Arnold Classic – 12th place), but still trains and eats clean. With minimal body fat and impressive size, Wolf’s longevity continues to capture the attention of fans from around the world.

“I work out everywhere and always. 💪 outdoor gym in the woods,” shared Dennis Wolf.

Wolf has been open about his longevity in retirement. He recently said he feels 30 years old at 47, and revealed that he has managed to stay lean at 237 pounds. Since stepping away from the stage, his weight has often hovered around 200 pounds, but Wolf explained that he doesn’t like feeling skinny.

“I honestly don’t like being skinny. In the last couple of years, I was a little skinnier than I am right now. Right now, I feel amazing. I think that’s the weight where I want to be,” he shared. “I’m going to gain another at least 10 pounds.”

Wolf also emphasized the importance of balancing performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) for a longer bodybuilding career. He noted that it’s not a healthy sport, and warned that if you’re overdoing PEDs, odds are your career won’t be long-lasting:

“If you are going nuts and overdosing with special supplements, you are probably not going to have a long career. You need to start slow. Most importantly, thinking about information. You need to try to get as much information as you can.”

Wolf isn’t the only Open star to step away from competing and remain in tremendous shape. Kevin Levrone showed off his ripped six-pack in a physique update at 62. His focus has also shifted to longevity and functional training.

Wolf remains one of the most memorable bodybuilders from the 2000s. Despite retirement, he has made it a point to stay ripped and athletic beyond the stage.
