Malik Bernoussi Triolet has been considered as one of the greatest young powerlifters in the past few years. To back this up, he was also ranked as the top ranked sub-junior (18 and under) male powerlifter in the IPF, but having turned 19-years-old, he now has to compete in the Junior division. So, his first International appearance in the new age class came at the 2023 IPF World Juniors and Sub-Juniors Classic Championships. Malik immediately found success, having set a 220.5-kilogram (486.1-pound) Bench Press U93KG IPF Junior World Record.
Malik Bernoussi Triolet has a history of setting World Records, which is why he was comfortable during all three bench press attempts. So he opened up with a 205-kilogram (451.9-pound) lift and made it clear that he is capable of pressing much more.
So, on his second attempt already, Malik bench pressed 215.5 kilograms (475 pounds), which marked a new IPF Junior World Record. Moreover, he still had one attempt left, where he decided to lift 220.5 kilograms (486.1 pounds). Having successfully locked it out as well, Malik further improved the record he set just minutes earlier.
Malik Bernoussi Triolet’s final bench press attempt still looked very comfortable for him, despite being significantly heavier than the old World Record. He did not stall for even a moment during the entire bench press, even despite wearing nothing but wrist wraps to aid him in the lift.
Gavin Adin held the U93KG IPF Junior Bench Press World Record of 215 kilograms (474 pounds), having set it at the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.
Malike Brenoussi Triolet ended up taking second place in the 93-kilogram weight class of the competition, but he was very close to the victory. Unfortunately, he missed his final two deadlift attempts, which cost him the title. So, iif he had locked out one of the final two attempts, Malik would have walked away as the winner of the 2023 IPF Junior World Championships.
