Many incredible athletes gathered for the 2026 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships and Alba Bostrom was certainly one of the most impressive ones. She competed on June 16th in Druskininkai, Lithuania, as a part of the 63-kilogram division, where she was regarded as the heavy favorite to win the title. Bostrom definitely fulfilled the expectations and even managed to set a new 241.5-kilogram (532.4-pound) Raw Deadlift IPF World Record.

Alba Bostrom’s deadlift session kicked off with a very comfortable 215-kilogram (474-pound) pull. At this point, she pretty much secured the title but still wanted to pursue a new competition PR and a World Record. Therefore, she decided to load 230 kilograms (507.1 pounds) for her second attempt, which was a very reasonable jump based on how her first lift went. Despite the increase in weight, Alba still displayed impressive speed with the bar, showing that she was capable of more.

With nothing to lose, Alba Bostrom locked in 241.5 kilograms (532.4 pounds) for her final deadlift attempt. It was a calculated decision, as it exceeded the former record by exactly 0.5 kilograms (1.1 pounds). So, Alba put on her lifting belt and some chalk before lifting the weight with a sumo stance and a mixed grip. The speed off the floor was mind-blowing, but the lockout phase did look noticeably more difficult for Alba. Fortunately, she managed to reach full extension and set a new World Record.

*Betty Aborah held the previous U63KG Raw Deadlift IPF World Record of 241 kilograms (531.3 pounds). She set the record at the 2025 EPF European Juniors and Sub-Juniors Classic Championships.
