The 5 Worst Bodybuilding Injuries Ever

Worst Bodybuilding Injuries Ever

Bodybuilding Injuries

FACT: Lifting heavy weight over a repeated period of time will lead to injuries. Some will be worse than others but you will eventually do something wrong and the end result ain’t gonna be pretty. I’m not trying to be patronizing here, it’s just the cold hard truth.

Shit happens, we are all humans and as such we are destined to make a mistake every now or there. Maybe you try to impress the hot checkout counter girl with your bench press and end up nearly decapitating your self. Maybe you try to grind out that one extra rep you’ve been chasing for weeks and your body just says “nope, we’re done for today“ and before you know it, you have a torn bicep.

Now imagine what happens when huge ass dudes who are jacked and strong as an occupation start reaching a bit outside their bodies limits. Well, you won’t have to imagine because, just like Santa Clause, I’ve got a list and I’m checking it twice.

1. Calum Von Moger – Bicep Tear

Calum Von Moger was the hot new thing in the Body Building industry for the past few years. He’s got the charisma, the youth, his social media game is strong and he kinda sorta looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Late 2017 after a training session with Chris Bumstead he decided to do some tandem curling with the Classic Physique competitor. The result was not that great.

They try it once, the bar barely goes up. They go for a second curl and Calum’s right biceps calls it a night and snaps. He went through surgery, recovery and was on his way to getting back in shape and well…let’s just say, we’ll see him again on this list.

2. Ronnie Coleman- Multiple Back Injuries

First thing that comes to your mind when you talk about Ronnie Coleman it’s him screaming “yeah buddy” from the top of his lungs as a self-motivation purpose. Then the next thing you’ll remember is him squatting 800 lbs and leg pressing a literal tonne of weight.

All those years of lifting heavy for reps have finally started to catch up to Ronnie. In September he went into his third major back surgery, 11th total since retiring. The prognosis is not that great, there’s a big chance he won’t be able to walk at all.

3. Scott Mendelson – Pec Tear

Scott Mendelson is a veteran arm wrestler and powerlifter. He specializes in the bench press and has won a bunch of competition wins in the super heavyweight class. You could say he’s a pretty big deal in the powerlifting community. In 2013.

he was competing in a powerlifting contest and as a huge man that he is, he went after some huge numbers on the bench press. First he went for 645lbs, which could’ve gone better but he pulled through. Then he tried his shot at setting a world record with a mind numbing 715lbs raw bench press. Let’s just say that things didn’t go his way.

4. Calum Von Moger- Knee and Bicep Tear

Well, look who’s back on this list! Recovering from his biceps tear, he went to Australia and did some rock climbing. He lost his balance very quickly trying to descent from a clip, lost his balance and everything went horribly wrong. He tore his knee and partially re-tore his biceps.

5. J.P. Fux- Multiple Quad and Knee Tear

J.P. blasted onto the bodybuilding scene in the early 90’s and was one of the guys that signified a new era of bodybuilding. He was huge, thick, ripped and looked monstrous on stage. Back in 2002, he was doing a photoshoot with FLEX magazine and for the purposes of the said photo shoot, he did a few sets of heavy skwatz.

On his last set he put 675 lbs on the bar and went down and hard with the weight on his back. Pushing the weight back up something went horribly wrong and J.P. went crashing down in one of the worst bodybuilding accidents ever.
