When it comes to squatting, proper support is key to progress and muscle growth. In an Instagram post from June 15, 2026, Charles Glass broke down how to properly wrap your knees to maximize squat results.
Charles Glass is among the most decorated trainers in the IFBB Pro League. He has guided dozens of top-tier bodybuilders to success, including Dexter Jackson, Chris Cormier, and Brandon Curry. Known as ‘The Godfather of Bodybuilding,’ Glass pays special attention to the smallest details, which makes his workout programs not only unique, but extremely valuable.
Protecting the knees during squats is a common challenge among gymgoers. While specific exercises can make a difference, Glass explains how knee wraps could be the game-changing tweak you need to advance your lower body.
Charles Glass Shares How to Wrap Your Knees Up for Heavy Squats
In the post, Glass emphasized that lifters should seek knee wraps made of durable material that don’t interfere with lifting mechanics.
“When it comes to these types of straps, you want good, durable material that doesn’t get in the way of your lift. The wraps are designed to support your joints at the points they need them the most so you can focus on the muscles you’re training and feel confident about your lifts!”
He said knee wraps were a game-changer and to start under the knee cap before wrapping it around the leg:
“Underneath [the knee] first. I let it hang just a little, go up, and around twice, then go up over the knee, around twice, and then back down [through under], and don’t cover my knee.”
“It’s a game-changer, when you squat heavy, it comes in handy.”
When a training session lacks intensity, Glass’ first thought isn’t extra reps or more weight. During a recent bodybuilder leg workout, he emphasized why strict form is critical for sculpting a stronger, more complete lower body. He also understands how to position different body types on machines to maximize progress.
Regardless of the bodybuilding class, Glass has tailored workouts to get the job done. He showcased his Fit Model shoulder and abs routine for those aiming to improve their upper bodies. Glass provided form cues and posing tips.
Before going under the bar for your next heavy squat, remember Glass’ advice. He believes knee wraps could help save your joints from wear and tear over time.
