Tom Stoltman wins the 2022 World’s Strongest Man. The World’s Strongest Man 2022 contest was concluded on the 29th of May, in Sacramento, California. The show is finished with three events on the fifth and last day of Strongman’s most renowned competition. Bus Pull and Reign Total Body Fuel Power Stairs Starts were the first two events, while the 2022 World’s Strongest Man concluded with the traditional Atlas Stones. Ten of the greatest Strongmen were battling for the sport’s most prestigious title, but only one of them could come out victorious.
Oleksii Novikov took the lead on day one of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man finals with wins in two out of three events. Novikov also made day one memorable with his Flintstone Barbell World Record. Tom Stoltman trailed him by only 1.5 points going into day two, while Martins Licis rounded up the top three of the 2022 WSM’s day one finals. Interestingly, the top three finishers from day one all won the WSM contest in the previous years.
Tom Stoltman won his second consecutive title, as he beat three previous WSM champions. Despite it being a tight battle for the majority of the contest, Tom won the 2022 WSM with a 10 point lead. Oleksii Novikov and Martins Licis both ended up on 43 points. However, since Licis had a faster time on the Atlas Stones, he took second place. Oleksii Novikov rounded up the top 3 after dropping a massive lead until the last two events

2022 World’s Strongest Man Day Five (Finals Day Two) Results
Bus Pull
The fourth event of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man finals was the classic Bus Pull. Although it is unclear how much the bus weighed, the competitors had 75 seconds to cover 30 meters with the vehicle strapped to their back.
Oleksii Novikov made a big step in the right direction by winning the Bus Pull event. There is no doubt that the heavier athletes are at an advantage in events like these, but Novikov beat everyone despite being the lightest competitor at the 2022 World’s Strongest Man. Martins Licis has gotten one point closer to Tom Stoltman, but everything still remains open. Brian Shaw ended up in fifth place on the overall leaderboards after this event, just half a point away from the fourth-placed Trey Mitchell.

Reign Total Body Fuel Power Stairs Starts
The fifth event of the finals was another classic WSM event where athletes had to lift three 226-kilogram (498.2-pound) up three stairs each. So a total of nine steps were climbed, while each step is a bit higher than usual. The time cap for this event was 75 seconds.
Oleksii Novikov dropped huge points in this event, which will probably cost him the win in the end. Tom Stoltman took over the first-place overall with nine points from this event. Maxime Boudreault won the event and shocked everyone, but it does not do much for him, as he is still sitting in 7th place. Brian Shaw and Mitchell Hooper rounded up the top five on the power stairs, but neither of them lifted all nine implements.
- Maxime Boudreault — 9 in 0:39.07 / 10 points
- Tom Stoltman — 9 in 0:41.04s / 9 points

Atlas Stones
The atlas stones are traditionally the final event of the majority of Strongman competition, and the 2022 World’s Strongest Man is no exception. Five stones were placed in front of the competitors and their weight ranged from 140 kilograms (309 pounds) to 200 kilograms (441 pounds). The time cap was 60 seconds, while the athletes performed the event in groups of two.
Tom Stoltman was never going to drop his lead on the Atlas Stone, as it is his greatest event. He took 10 points and made it look like it was a certain win for him since the start. However, Oleksii Novikov finished dead last in the Atlas Stones, so Martins Licis overtook him on the overall rankings.
- Tom Stoltman — 5 in 0:25.76s / 10 points
- Maxime Boudreault — 5 in 0:28.04s / 9 points
- Trey Mitchell — 5 in 0:33.06 / 8 points

2022 World’s Strongest Man Day Four (Finals Day One) Results
The top 10 strongmen from the three-day Qualifying Rounds advanced to the two-day Finals at this year’s WSM. After three days of intense competition, athletes were given Friday off to relax and heal before returning to action on Saturday.
Saturday, May 28th also consisted of three events, which were KNAACK Giant’s Medley, Deadlift, Flintstone Barbell.
KNAACK Giant’s Medley
The competitors carried two 120-kilogram (265-pound) boxes, followed by the 455-kilogram (1,003-pound) yoke, each for the length of 10 meters.
During the medley, Mitchell Hooper stood out, as he won his first ever World’s Strongest Man final event with a blistering time. The majority of competitors had relatively fast times, and even tenths of a second made the difference between placings. Tom Stoltman claimed a second-place finish in this event just 0.09 seconds ahead of Novikov.
- Mitchell Hooper — 0:21.96s / 10 points
- Tom Stoltman — 0:24.75s / 9 points
- Oleksii Novikov — 0:24.84 / 8 points
- Luke Stoltman — 0:28.72s / 7 points
- Martins Licis — 0:30.60 / 6 points
- Brian Shaw — 0:30.78s / 5 points
- Trey Mitchell — 0:32.54s / 4 points
- Gabriel Rheaume — 0:33.87s / 3 points
- Maxime Boudreault — 0:34.11s / 2 points
- Eythor Melsted — 0:37.61s / 1 point
Deadlift
It was a car deadlift variation, which still weighed a humongous 360 kilograms (794 pounds). The aim for the athletes was to pull as many repetitions as possible in 60 seconds.
Oleksii Novikov was unbeatable in the car deadlift for reps, as he pulled 15 reps without slowing down from start to finish. He even suffered a nosebleed towards the end, but that did not stop him. A lot of athletes performed the same amount of reps, which means that they missed on at least half a point for sharing a place.
- Oleksii Novikov — 15 reps / 10 points
- Tom Stoltman — 13 reps / 8.5 points
- Trey Mitchell — 13 reps / 8.5 points
- Mitchell Hooper — 12 reps / 6 points
- Martins Licis — 12 reps / 6 points
- Brian Shaw — 12 reps / 6 points
- Maxime Boudreault — 10 reps / 4 points
- Luke Stoltman — 9 reps / 3 points
- Gabriel Rheaume — 8 reps / 1.5 points
- Eythor Melsted — 8 reps / 1.5 points
Flintstone Barbell
Athletes attempted to lift as heavy as possible, in what is basically an overhead press. Some used the standard shoulder press technique, while we also saw split jerks and behind-the-neck presses. This was the third and final event on day one of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man finals.
Oleksii Novikov and Tom Stoltman got involved in a battle of their own, as the majority of athletes failed at much lighter weights. However, Tom opted not to attempt 246 kilograms (542 pounds), while Oleksii successfully lifted it.
- Oleksii Novikov — 246 kilograms (542 pounds) / 10 points
- Tom Stoltman — 240 kilograms (529 pounds) / 9 points
- Martins Licis — 235 kilograms (518 pounds) / 8 points
- Trey Mitchell — 212 kilograms (467 pounds) / 5.5 points
- Brian Shaw — 212 kilograms (467 pounds) / 5.5 points
- Luke Stoltman — 212 kilograms (467 pounds) / 5.5 points
- Maxime Boudreault — 212 kilograms (467 pounds) / 5.5 points
- Mitchell Hooper — 200 kilograms (441 pounds) / 3 points
- Gabriel Rheaume — 190 kilograms (419 pounds) / 1.5 points
- Eythor Melsted — 190 kilograms (419 pounds) / 1.5 points
