Ray Williams hit the mark at the 2016 USA Powerlifting Raw Nationals in Atlanta.
Ray Williams powerlifter is simply a beast! Williams was in Atlanta over the weekend, he broke the half-ton barrier at the USA Powerlifting Raw Nationals and set a new mark in the super heavyweight division 1,005 pounds— would you believe it!
Yes, 1,005 pounds. Williams pulled off the first-ever 1,000 plus pound raw squat lift in history, putting up 456 kilograms. “Raw” meaning no “squat suit” and no knee wraps, just with a regular weightlifting belt and knee sleeves.
Congratulations on a Titanic effort, it’s the first time an athlete has squatted more than 1,000 pounds raw in a drug-tested competition.
Check out another video of Williams, 240kg (529 lb) bench and 383kg (844 lb) deadlift.
