The strongest deadlifter in the women’s division, Tamara Walcott, is once again pushing the limits in training. She is currently preparing for The Ghost Clash, scheduled for February 13th, 2022. Despite the competition happening seven days from now, Tamara decided to do some heavy deadlifts in the gym, which resulted in an Unofficial World Record pull. Tamara competes in the +90 kg category. This lift was 14 lbs over the 288.5 kg (636 lb) raw deadlift record.

Tamara showcased the massive 295kg (650 lbs) deadlift on her official Instagram account. She only used a lifting belt and wrist wraps, while her stance was conventional, accompanied by a mixed grip. The hold at the top of the lift, and a smile of satisfaction, shows that Tamara is currently full of self-confidence.

This lift was 6.5 kg (14.3 lbs) heavier than the current World Record, which is held by Tamara. She set the record at the 2021 WRPF The Bucked Up Showdown.

Tamara Walcott’s Career And Achievements

Tamara Walcott is relatively new to the sport of powerlifting, as her first sanctioned competition was in 2018. She has competed in seven sanctioned competitions until now and won six of those. Her most notable win was the 2021 WRPF Bucked Up Showdown. Tamara set all of her competition PRs in that competition.

  • Squat: 265 kg (584.2 lbs)
  • Bench Press: 165 kg (363.8 lbs)
  • Deadlift: 288.5 kg (636 lbs) All-Time World Record
  • Total: 718.5 kg (1584 lbs) All-Time Second-Heaviest Total

Tamara Walcott’s Next World Record Attempt

After her latest deadlift video, it would not be surprising to see Tamara Walcott not only break the world record, but possibly become the first woman to deadlift 300 kg (661.4 lbs) raw. In the video’s caption, Tamara announced the official World Record attempt.

“Stay tune as I work towards Breaking my own ATWR. FOR THE HEAVIEST WOMEN’S DEADLIFT IN THE NEXT 8 days,”

This will be at the Ghost Clash on Sunday, February 13th. Besides the record, Tamara will compete for some prize money, as the prize pool is $36,000 across all categories.

The Ghost Clash Prize Pool:

  • 1st place: $5500
  • 2nd place: $2500
  • 3rd place: $1000

However, the competition will be fierce, as the lineup is stacked, and a few athletes are world record holders. Tamara will attempt to break her own deadlift, Squat, and the heaviest total record at this upcoming event.

April Mathis currently holds the all-time raw squat world record of 278.9-kg (614.9 lb) and all-time world record of 730.2 kgs (1,609.8 lbs), which she scored at the 2011 American Powerlifting Federation (APF) Southern States showdown.

Tamara Walcott is easily the greatest deadlifter in the women’s division, and with the speed of her improvement, it is only a matter of time when she will pull 300 kg (661.4 lbs). Tamara is in her late thirties, and these types of lifts make us wonder what her lifts would look like if she started at a younger age.
