Akinwale Arobieke, who was known by many nicknames, including ‘Muscle Squeezer’ and others, was an urban myth in his own right. He was a British bodybuilder but gained more fame for his unusual obsession with other people’s muscles. However, he was found dead in his apartment on August 26th on Devonshire Road in Toxteth. Arobieke was 64 years old at the time of his passing.

Akinwale Arobieke resided in Liverpool and was a well-known character in Merseyside, one that many people feared because of his history. He was obsessed with physiques, both his own and the builds of others. He entered headlines due to allegations stating that he went around and harassed other men by squeezing their muscles. The tales of Arobieke grew over the years, making it hard to separate the real from made-up stories.

The Life of Akinwale Arobieke

Akinwale Arobieke was born in Manchester, but his character grew notorious in Liverpool. He was often involved in multiple criminal charges, the majority of which stemmed from his efforts to touch people’s muscles.

In 1986, a young man tragically passed away while allegedly trying to run away from Akinwale Arobieke. As a result, Arobieke was convicted of manslaughter, but the decision was overturned following an appeal. However, that did not stop the police from conducting further investigations into the acts committed by Arobieke.

As a result of multiple extensive interviews, it was revealed that Akinwale Arobieke allegedly approached young men with the intention to feel their muscles, lift them, and even perform squats with some. Moreover, diving deeper into his peculiar obsession, some reports state that he measured the size of the victim’s biceps, thighs, chest, and more.

In 2001, Akinwale Arobieke was charged with indecent assault and harassment against over a dozen young males. He faced other charges in the following period and ended up serving six years in prison. Upon his release, Akinwale was given a series of prevention orders, such as touching people’s muscles, which he breached a few years later. He rebuked any claims that his obsession was sexually motivated.

In 2016, Akinwale Arobieke was featured in a documentary called ‘The Man Who Squeezes Muscles”. As a response, he stated that the documentary promoted racial hatred and that it demonized him, while also claiming that he was the victim of a “witch hunt”.

Akinwale Arobieke filed charges against the police for malicious prosecution, as he believed that he was targeted without a valid cause. He received an out-of-court settlement and has been away from the public eye since. However, on August 26th his body was found in his apartment, with the police office stating that his death was “non-suspicious”.

“We can confirm that emergency services were in the Toxteth area following a non-suspicious death last night, Tuesday 26 August. At around 8:30pm, officers were made aware of a man in his 60s being found unresponsive at an address in Devonshire Road, Princes Park. He was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Akinwale Arobieke’s death has been rumored on many occasions in the past. This time, the confirmation of his passing brings a definitive end to the story of the man behind the myth. However, the urban tale of Akinwale Arobieke, the ‘muscle squeezer,’ is likely to live on for years to come in the region of Merseyside and beyond.
