The 2025 Mr. Olympia Weekend is almost here, and bodybuilders are breaking down the action. On October 8, 2025, Chris Bumstead revealed his top five picks for Classic Physique and Open Bodybuilding just two days before competitors step onstage.
The Classic Physique Olympia title picture looks completely different compared to last year. After securing his sixth consecutive victory, Bumstead decided to step away from the sport. With a vacant title on the line, contenders are aiming to bring their all-time best.
On paper, Mike Sommerfeld, who took silver at the 2024 Olympia, is the clear favorite. However, Ramon Queiroz and Terrence Ruffin are also on a mission to become only the fourth athlete to earn the prestigious title.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Open, Samson Dauda has set his sights on gold. He upset Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford last year to claim the Sandow trophy. Ahead of the competition, he’s showcased a new level of conditioning during a guest posing, adding even more intrigue to the event.

2025 Mr. Olympia predictions have been rolling in leading into the competition. Former eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman announced his bold picks—he sees Choopan reclaiming the title, which would make him only the second bodybuilder in history to regain the honor, joining the likes of Jay Cutler.
Bodybuilding icon Lee Haney also gave his take on how he sees the contest unfolding. He believes Dauda will pull off a successful title defense. In addition, he argued that Behrouz Tabani and Choopan will fight for second and third place.
There’s more heat than usual heading into Olympia, thanks to the budding rivalry between Nick Walker and Derek Lunsford. Hostility grew between the two following Lunsford’s win over Walker at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro, where he narrowly got the nod in a sudden-death tie-breaker round. Walker qualified a week later at the New York Pro to guarantee his spot onstage.
This Mr. Olympia is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable in the last few years. Don’t miss Fitness Volt’s full coverage of the event, from Oct. 9–12 in Las Vegas, NV.
