Dozens of elite athletes gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, on May 21-24 for the 2026 Rebel Renegade Games CrossFit Semifinal. The four-day competition consisted of nine events in total, putting the athletes through a series of workouts designed to test all aspects of their fitness. Featuring just one qualifying spot in each division, the battle for the title became even more intense. Ultimately, Ben Fowler and Hannah Black climbed to the top of the podium.

Men

Ben Fowler emerged as the convincing winner in the men’s division of the 2026 Rebel Renegade Games CrossFit Semifinal. He never placed lower than fourth across any of the nine events and ended up beating his closest rival by over 100 points, essentially winning the competition even before the competition concluded. As a result, Ben has qualified for his first Individual CrossFit Games, but he has previously made one appearance in the teams division. Hannah Black accumulated 905 out of the maximum possible 950 points, showcasing incredible consistency across all events against a number of world-class athletes. Similar to Ben Fowler, Hannah has made one CrossFit Games appearance in the teams division, but she is now set to make her debut as an individual athlete.

Var Thormann-Moe and Matilde Garnes also put up incredible performances, proving just how stacked the roster at the 2026 Rebel Renegade Games CrossFit Semifinal. Unfortunately for them, only Hannah Black qualified for the 2026 CrossFit Games, which means that they will have to appear and perform in some of the remaining Semifinals if they want to reach the final stage.
