Professional powerlifter Russel Orhii put his skills on full display as he obliterated his PR with a 733lb/332.5kg deadlift.

During the current global health crisis, athletes are doing their best to maintain workout regimes and beat their personal bests. That includes powerlifter Russel Orhii, who is using the lockdown to push the limits of his training sessions.

The Texas-born athlete currently competes in the IPF and USAPL powerlifting federations. He currently holds the world record for the 83kg weight class. In 2019 at the IPF World Championships in 2019, he achieved a huge 833kg total lift.  He has proven to be a rising talent, having begun competing professionally in 2015. He also became the first competitor to win the RAW nationals powerlifting championships, a whopping three times. He posted a throwback picture of his major accomplishment to Instagram.

Today on social media, the 24-year old proved why he is a world record holder. The powerlifter posted a video where he crushed a killer 733lb deadlift.

“733lbs/332.5kg for a calibrated plate PR!” Orhii captioned the video. “And I’m gonna get it even if you’re in the way. And if you’re in it, better run for Pete’s sake.”

It’s hard to tell if it was the Kendrick Lamar music or his beaming smile that allowed Orhii to lift so effortlessly, but the athlete accomplished the lift at 16 lbs over his IPF deadlift world record. Consistency is key as Orhii has been posting plenty of strong performances lately. Last week, the 24-year old posted a video crushing a 716.5lb/325kg deadlift.

Given the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing health crisis, it is unclear when he will compete next. However, Orhii has been mixing up his routine with bench presses to 683.5lb/310kg squats. If his Instagram account is anything to go by, it is only onwards and upwards for the deadlifting powerhouse, Russel Orhii.
