Jamal Browner is widely considered as one of the best powerlifters in the world, and is most known for his extremely heavy deadlifts. Jamal is competing in the 110 kg category, and judging by the lifts he does in training, Jamal could put up a very good performance at the Hybrid Showdown 4, which is scheduled to happen on January 15-16, 2022.

In the last few days, Jamal has published some huge deadlifts and squats. In the most recent deadlift video, we can see Jamal doing two repetitions of a 390 kg (859.8 lbs) paused deadlift, followed by 5 repetitions of a 380 kg (837.7 lbs) deadlift. Jamal used straps and a lifting belt, accompanied by lifting with a sumo stance.

Jamal also showcased a 345 kg (760.5 lbs) squat on his Instagram. To aid him in his lift, Jamal used a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps, alongside doing a low bar squat.

The only lift we are not up-to-date with is bench press, as Jamal has not published anything bench press related in the last few weeks.

Jamal Browner’s Competition Records

Jamal has out lifted some of these in the gym, but these are the official (done in competition) personal records.

  • Squat: 365 kg (804.5 lbs)
  • Bench Press: 225 kg (496 lbs)
  • Deadlift: 440.5 kg (903.8 lbs)
  • Total: 1000 kg (2204.6 lbs)

Jamal’s squats and deadlifts in training look very good, and his bench press could surprise us. If his preparation turns out right, Jamal could easily put up a few personal records.

Hybrid Showdown 4

Hybrid Showdown is certainly one of the best powerlifting competitions currently, as the previous editions featured some of the most elite powerlifters. The fourth edition is bound to justify the reputation of the competition. It is considered a full power, raw only (sleeves) event.

Hybrid Showdown 4 is scheduled to happen on January 15-16, 2022 At HYBRID Performance Method Gym Miami, FL. Weigh-ins are set to happen on Saturday, January 15th, while the lifting will begin on Sunday, January 16th.

The total prize pool is $60,000, and it will be given to the top 3 athletes, in the male and female division.

1st place – $20,000
2nd place – $7,500
3rd place – $2,500

How to watch

It will be possible to watch the event both in person and through a Livestream. If you want to go and watch the event in person, tickets will be available at the door: $15 Day 1, $25 Day 2 or $30 for both days. If you want to watch it online, a Livestream will be available on HYBRID YouTube Channel, 8 AM to 6 PM EST Saturday & Sunday.

Jamal Browner is very comfortable with this competition, as this will be his third time competing here. He also set all his PR’s in the last year’s edition of Hybrid Showdown. Jamal will surely be accompanied by a number of elite athletes, and there is a good chance to see some world record performances.
