Just a few days after impressing the 4x Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler, with her squat prowess, Jessica Buettner is also showing off her deadlifting power. On May 4 Jessica shared an incredible feat of strength, having posted a humongous 250-kilogram (551-pound) deadlift PR double on her Instagram. Her previous double PR was five kilograms (11 pounds) lighter than this and was set just eight days ago.

Jessica Buettner’s 250-kilogram (551-pound) deadlift is also an Unofficial IPF World Record in the U76KG weight class, and she pulled it for two reps. Jessica holds the current official record of 247.5 kilograms (545.6 pounds), which she set at the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

This lift is considered raw by powerlifting regulations, as Jessica only used a lifting belt to aid her in the lift. She also utilized a conventional stance and a mixed grip. Jessica’s reps looked very smooth, so from the outsider’s point of view, it seems like she could have done at least one more.

You can watch the lift here:

“DID MY MEET PR FOR A DOUBLE!! PR fueled by diabetes rage 😤😤😤. I failed the first set on grip, then heard my sensor go off for a high blood sugar alarm immediately before this set and THAT WAS IT.”

Jessica Buettner has previously revealed how she utilizes her Type 1 Diabetes to become better. And her new deadlift PR is proof that she does not let it stand in her path.

Jessica will firstly compete at the 2022 CPU Canadian Nationals, which takes place from May 9-14, 2022, in St. Johns. She will not have any time to rest after the Nationals, as Jessica will also take part in the 2022 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships which will go down from June 6-12, 2022, in Sun City, South Africa. Judging by her recent training footage, it is likely that Jessica will improve all four of her competition PRs.

Jessica Buettner’s Competition PRs:

  • Squat: 210.5 kilograms (464.1 pounds) IPF World Record (2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships)
  • Bench Press: 105 kilograms (231.5 pounds) (2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships)
  • Deadlift: 250 kilograms (551.2 pounds) (2020 CPU Nationals)
  • Total: 563 kilograms (1241.2 pounds) IPF World Record (2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships)

Having competed since 2014, Jessica Buettner has taken part in a total of 17 sanctioned competitions. She won 15 of them, while also setting three IPF World Records in the U76KG weight class. She will now try to add two more wins to her already incredible resume.

It is hard to envision anyone beating Jessica Buettner in the U76KG weight class this year, so she will most likely become the IPF World Champion for the second consecutive year. However, it is still not “done and dusted”, as Jessica is on the path to breaking three World Records.
