The 2023 Mr. Olympia event has etched its place in history by making Derek Lunsford the first-ever two-division champion, as he was crowned Mr. Olympia over the weekend. While fans watched four reigning champions defend their titles, it was a night of upsets as seven titleholders were dethroned. At the 2023 Mr. Olympia, the top five competitors in each category received a cash bonus. Below is a list of all the prizes awarded.
This Olympia was a spectacular show of talent and hard work. Every athlete put on an impressive display, proving why they deserved to be on the stage. The best of the best earned some serious cash for their diligence with the biggest prize going to those in the Men’s Open with the Mr. Olympia Lunsford taking home $400,000.
2023 Mr. Olympia (Men’s Open) Prize Money
The most anticipated division to take the stage this last weekend was the Men’s Open. Hadi Choopan, Derek Lunsford, and Samson Dauda proved to be the top three fighting for the title. After a strenuous night of posing it was Derek Lunsford who reigned supreme and was named Mr. Olympia. Having made the move from the 212 division to the Men’s Open, Lunsford has proven he is where he belongs while becoming the first bodybuilder to become a two-division champion.
Hadi was determined to defend the throne though he would unfortunately be forced to give it up and move into second place. Meanwhile, Samson Dauda moved up from last year’s sixth-place spot and secured third. Overall, all the athletes brought their absolute best and made the 2023 Mr. Olympia a memorable event.

Keone Pearson dominated the stage during pre-judging and rode the momentum into the finals. Pearson’s combination of conditioning and fullness were unmatched and saw him take first place, beating the reigning champion Shaun Clarida who would come in second.

The Classic Physique Olympia Champion Chris Bumstead was looking to earn his fifth title over the weekend. Having what most consider to be the epitome of what the division represents, he didn’t disappoint when he appeared on stage. Although Ramon Rocha Queiroz wouldn’t make it easy for the champ as he boasted insane shape and conditioning.
Regardless of Ramon Rocha’s incredible physique, Bumstead shined on stage and was able to secure his fifth Classic Physique title victory. Roman Rocha would secure a spot in second place while Urs Kalecinsky would come in third maintaining his position from last year.

Brandon Hendrickson, Ryan Terry, and Erin Banks would go head to head during the prejudging though it would be Ryan Terry who prevailed in the finals snagging a first-place finish. Fans would see Brandon Hendrickson maintain his second-place slot while Erin Banks would slip into third.
